118 - The different Honda Ad

Very soon after Honda got the Internet discussing about it's marvellous new ad, showing pure causality, 118118 a british telefone directory service by the Number Ltd. picks up the prinicple and produced a parody called "Tyre". The "Making Of" is available as well. Well done! [via ilw]

Honda Ad

I noticed we didn't yet have a story about the brilliant ad for Honda ("Isn't it nice when things just work?"). You have probably all seen it by now, so just watch it a second time and read this article about the "Making Of". It says that there is no trick photography in the film - everything is real! 606 takes were needed.

Powergen Italia

Powergen Italy has got itself a new logo.

Powergen Italia's Logo

Looks familiar, doesn't it? But, well, there is something even worse: Guess what domain "Powergen Italia" uses for its website? Exactly.

[Update] Too bad: It seems that the domain is a fake. (via Volker Weber)

Ministerial advertising

Dr. Martin Bartenstein, austrian minister and EUR-millionaire (private pharmacy company), was buying shoes in Vienna some days ago. He wanted to get an extra discount. It seems that money is tight when it comes to poor politicians. He had to fuss and fight with the personnel and even called the styrian headquarter of the shoe-company to get special discount on one pair of shoes.

Just a bit later the main competitor of the shoe company granting special-ministerial discounts comes up with a great ad campaign.

"Ministerrabatt für alle. 15 Prozent auch für alle Nicht-Minister, Privilegien für alle."

Update: MarketingFix Has picked the story up and has a very interesting writeup about it and other viral marketing in Britain.
